Philips PCR resistor values
I'm restoring a 1944 Philips PCR radio but having trouble identifying the resistor values.
I've looked at various information on the net and there's and official looking document which has circuits for the 3 variants of this radio. Unfortunately the part list doesn't tie up with any of the component ident data. http://vintageradio.me.uk/military/prc2/PCR_EMER.pdf I've drawn my own circuit but measuring the values doesn't help much as the values have all drifted over the last 74 years! Most of the resistors use a now obsolete colour coding system where the body colour is the 1st digit, the end the 2nd and the band the multiplier. This works for most of the resistors (R19 and R26 for instance) but not the 1st AF amp anode load R15. I've attached the relevant bit of the circuit and a picture of the components. Can anyone help me with what value this should be, it measures 25k but I'd expect something like 220k here? Regards - Mike |

Re: Philips PCR resistor values
22k according to WFTW Volume 4. Red, Red, Orange.

Re: Philips PCR resistor values
Many thanks for that. Odd that this one resistor uses the 'modern' system of colour coding when all the others use an older system. Seems like a low value for an anode load but I would be surprised if the value had gone down over time, all the others have gone up.

I used to remember it as.... Body... Tip... Dot... or stripe..

Re: Philips PCR resistor values
Surely R15 in the picture is just another body-tip-spot (band) job?
