Default Precision Devices PD105 Speakers and Crossovers - Looking for Information. Value?

Hello again all. I've managed to salvage a set of working Precision Devices PD105 speakers, a pair of tweeters and also some crossovers. I'm just looking for information on them really as they're not a make I've ever heard of. I'd be looking to sell them so an idea of price I could expect would be great. The crossovers are working and all 4 speakers are working, although I can't get any info on the tweeters.

Pics attached, many thanks in advance.

Probably the first place to start would be at the Precision Devices website

That was the first place I looked but there is absolutely no information on anything that isn't current.

From the look of the drivers they look decent, probably high sensitivity with that horn driver, nice find.

Andy.

Thanks for the reply Andy. I had no doubt that they were high-ish end, they used to belong to the Mrs's grandfather who was well known for being an audiophile. In fact, due to the amount of high end speakers he had when I cleared out his house, it was no surprise that he was deaf as a post!

Precision Devices are known for PA drivers, not hi-fi. You do occasionally find PA drivers in hi-fi applications, but the results are usually "mixed" (being kind!). The fact there are Ansar CPA Supersound caps in the crossover suggests this combination might have had hi-fi pretensions, but horn tweeters aren't exactly hi-fi IME.

Looks like iron filings on the magnet - hopefully none have found their way into the gap.

As Mr. Hennessy states, Precision Devices are widely used in the Pro Audio industry, one such I used to service was the HK Audio Deacon system; the HF cabinets (12" PD and 2" B&C drivers) put out 600W - the bass cabinets put out 1000W; a complete system comprised six cabinets, putting out 5200W.

I didn't know HK Audio used them - that's interesting to learn. Mind you, I've only seen the PR:O range, which is excellent for the money - I've got a set of passive PR:O 12s somewhere. Forget who makes the drivers for those, but one of the well-known budget brands. But how you use a drive unit makes a lot of difference - price is no guarantee. Most of the sound quality comes from the crossover design, after all

Cheers,

Mark

PRO12 schematic attached. E994174 HK custom means it is an Eminence OEM model.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for that, which confirms that my hand-drawn schematic is correct

Sica - that's it! But I didn't know the woofer was Eminence. For some reason I thought it was also Sica, but it was a long time ago. I've had excellent results with Eminence, so am quite happy to learn that's what I've got.

Thanks again,

Mark
