Default Headphone Diaphragms

For my Dr Nesper phones. They are 10 thou thick and 2.06" across and made of 'Shim Steel', I am told. I expect later ones of Stalloy would sound better. Are they possible to make?

Hi Pete. if you can find a local transformer winder/ manufacturer you should be able to get some Stalloy strip at approx. 10thou for next to mothing.
Heavy duty scissors should cut it.

Why not try a bit of biscuit tin, nothing to loose! It is, however, more difficult to find tins without some embossing.

In the past I cut out a diaphragm from a Fray Bentos meat tin which was flat enough .It worked but tinny. I remember it being thicker and less pliable than real ones. I want 2.1" diameter pieces.
