Pye console radio - unknown model number
I recently came by this Pye set which has been family owned and stored for many years and has not suffered from damp, so although it looks tatty actually it is excellent internally. Apart from the model number that is, which has fallen off or was never there. Hence I am hoping somebody recognises it.
It has Ever Ready valves, which I have read elsewhere here may be the originals. The first is A30B. I don't have the set to hand right now so I don't have the full list. The set had its smoothing cap replaced in the 1950s by the look of it and the set responded to gradual application of power; all coils are good because of fairly dry storage. Audio is responding but no sign of oscillation. I can't wait to get it going but the info on it seems quite scarce. |

Re: Pye console radio - unknown model number
Hello,
It looks rather like this https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/pye_t12t_1.html but it does not use an A30B valve. Yours, Richard |

Re: Pye console radio - unknown model number
A80A would make more sense- that's a pentagrid frequency changer, A30B is a triode.
The Pye T18 uses same lineup as the T12T mentioned. Output valve is a PX4 near equivalent.........

Re: Pye console radio - unknown model number
Many thanks for the replies.
I'm just coming to the conclusion that it is a Pye T12 and I read the valve number wrongly. |
