Hello Group, It's Craig.
I am doing a series of videos on the Digi-Key Nibbler which is a SC/MP based single board computer. At some point before I am done with these videos, I would like to include a rundown of the available SC/MP project boards (both hardware and emulator based). Since a number of the projects are derivatives of other projects, or someone lays a project down and someone else picks it back up, etc., I am not always sure who begat whom, which is the latest, and which projects are still a good build even if there is a revised version from someone else. Maybe there is master list already that i just haven't found, but since members here seem to be the fountain of knowledge for all things SC/MP, it is probably the best place to start. I have raided sites like PhilG's and others and have a 'work in progress' list on my project page, but I could really use additional input & corrections... project page (link) Ideally, I would like to get kit creators to post here or PM me--
Cheers Craig |

Hi Craig,
Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your videos. Whilst not supplying actual full-kits, ChrisOddy does PCB's & PROM's etc. for Close-Replica's of the MK14 (Issue V) and the MK14 VDU etc. As well as an updated 'Enhanced' 'MK14E' version, that uses rather-more commonly still-available vintage-IC's for the Memory etc. Plus it is designed to be more-easily expandable, with a backplane / riser for multiple expansion cards as well as rather-more configurable - So you can easily-change the Memory-map to run NIBL(E), that wasn't too practical to do on an original MK14. There's also a wealth of info and documentation / software downloads on his website, with main index page, here. https://theoddys.com/acorn/scmp.html - Which also includes details on / and construction details for replicas of the SC/MP based SOFTY 1 & 2 EPROM Programmers (That can also function as an In Circuit Emulator). The main MK14 page, from there: https://theoddys.com/acorn/acorn_system_computers/mk14/mk14.html also has details on the MK14 original Tape & VDU Interfaces. Plus also the PROM-Blower Peripherals. As well as full details on the NS Introkit, along with both KITBUG plus SCMPKB (= original MK14 SCIOS-1) firmware (source listings & binaries) |

Is there another Ian with an MK14 replica or is this a duplicate of Slothies under his real name?
I think all the PIC14s should give attribution to Karen Orton. |

Did you intend to post a link, Mark? Slothie's MK14 replica PCB which we refer to as the 'Issue VI' is often also referred to by his real name of Ian K Rolfe because his name is on the PCB.

The two projects were listed on Craig’s project page, lined in the OP.

OK The 'Ian's MK14' 'button, if you click on it, leads to images of the MK14E which is Chris Oddy's project, so that's not quite right.
I had wondered if Ian (Realtime) had made one as well. There are also Jerry's (JM Precision) MK14 'issue 0' replica PCBs which were really the first available within the UK - not sure if he is still making them though. If you want a replica with the address, data and control buses wired to the rear edge connector - which no original MK14 ever had, Slothie's 'Issue VI' is still the most useful replica of the base machine, otherwise you'd need to go for Chris's MK14E which includes that feature... and then some. I don't think even Chris's close replica of the original issue V has the buses tracked to the rear edge. |

What about the 'issue VII' spin of Slothie's replica PCB, the one which was relaid for proper Cherry Key switches? Do we have a link to that one?

I do not provide kits, but there are schematics in KiCAD and Gerber files:
https://www.moria.de/tech/scmp/cpuscmp/ https://www.moria.de/tech/scmp/hexio/ The NDR Klein Computer is a modular system from the 80s, which allowed to use various CPUs, most popular the Z80 and the 68008.

An image of my build of Slothie's 'issue VI' replica PCB. I will try to dig up some more - I think I have photos of the bare PCB and maybe the build instructions as well - and pass them on to Craig.
Does anyone have a link to a still-alive online package containing the PCB files for the issue VI? Last edited by SiriusHardware; 19th Aug 2025 at 7:52 pm. |

I think Ian attached the files to one of the posts in his MK14 replica thread. I have a couple of bare pcbs if you don’t find your photos.

Can I just interject here and ask what happened to Slothie ? I noted he did complain about his stuff being in storage however he seemed to disappear, I may have missed something (probably) here but I did follow his topics
