Default Capacitor information required.

I am rebuilding an old home made TRF radio.
This radio contains some silver mica capacitors that have no value marked.
One of these has a wire fractured off, so it is useless.

However these capacitors do have some code numbers that I would thing are military, maybe USA.

The one with the fractured wire is marked 10C2076. Some while back I remember seeing reference to a list of these numbers and corresponding values. Now I do not remember where I saw this, and cant seem to find it again.

Has anybody an idea as to where one might find such a list?

Thanks,
Regards Dave.

Hi Lawrence,

That was a quick reply, thank you very much.
I did find that receiver information earlier today, but did not look through it all.

Problem solved.

Regards Dave.

It was the 10C ref. that caught my eye.

The document you are thinking of is AP1086, the RAF Vocabulary of Stores.

Section 10C tells us that 10C/2076 is a Fixed Condenser, Mica Dielectric, Moulded, Type 966, 300pf, +/-15%, 350v working, 1000v test.

Hello Andy,

Thanks for the information.
Is that document available from anywhere.
I have a faulty pot with the number 10C/18*8 the star I think is a Q

Thanks Dave.

Dave,
AP1086 is a ginormous document, getting hold of some Sections is impossible, others are available online. Fortunately Section 10C is available from VMARS,
http://www.vmarsmanuals.co.uk/archive/files_index.htm
Pots should come under Section 10W, but I have seen them erroneously marked as 10C.
Look at documents 3225/6/7/8.
Q wouldn't make sense, it should be a digit.

Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for that, I will see how I go with downloading the document.

The number certainly had a tail just like a Q, however I wet it slightly and it rubbed away without disturbing what was underneath, it could be another 8 or a 0.

I have the downloads, thank Andy.

Dave.

I checked the documents and found my answer 10c/1808 is a 20K 3W pot. It is the only number in that section starting with 18. The quoted size ties up also. Although the pot has 2 track of, as far as I could measure, of 20K each.
