Default Repurposing a Bush

Yes, there's a challenge, convert a DAC90a to VHF! UBC41 to UABC80, UF41 leave as is, UCH42 change to another UF41, find somewhere to make another hole for UCC85. Then just change the coils, rewind the IFT's and re -jig the tuning system.

And bung up the waveband switch hole, it won't be used.

Converting a DAC90 would be a bit harder methinks...

Well, Kalee20 you seem to have it worked out. Can we expect to see that as a restoration on the forum? Would be interesting. All that frame aerial out too, lots of space for a UCC85 or a pair of EF85s?

As a serious suggestion, I have a Philco FM tuner,3720A.

I would use the hole for a tone control
It would be an interesting project to follow, I am sure you could make a scan of the original dial and alter it via a PC to make a new VHF version.

Slightly off topic but been there & done it.. Well with transistors anyway. Germanium front end module, Silicon IC audio amps

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...t=91724&page=2 See post 34

Still working well nearly 4 years later.

I had originally bought a scrap vhf90 with the view to retrofit this into the DAC case but this was a no go....

Ah, but that's cheating!

I did have a think, can I save a valve with a bit of reflexing. Or maybe a super-regen front end rather than a superheterodyne. Probably, yes, but I daren't spend too much time in case I just HAVE to give it a go...
