Cheers,
Des.

Never heard of them, but there were few post-war valve factories and lots of rebranding/marketing outfits such as Standard, 6202, Zaerix, Pinnacle. They sourced valves from wherever they could, imports, military surplus, maker's over runs, and badged and boxed them.

Then there were export only brands from major makers, such as Haltron.

I'd guess that "Quality", is another outfit like Standard etc, rather than a maker.

Pete.

That name rings a bell from the late 60's or early 70's to me.

I was going to that 'that ones not very good quality, it got air in it' but someone beat me to it. I would concur, around the late '50s onward, lots of previously unheard of valves began to appear on the market, usually considerably cheaper than the proprietory brands.

Exclamation Re: Unheard of valve make.

I bought a number of these 'Quality' valves some time ago, still have a few of them that I have never used. I seem to recall buying them from ads in Television magazine but can't recall the supplier, I don't think I have any receipts after all this time.

The valves seem to be well made from what I can see of them though as Nick points out, the valve you have is 'shot'

Of course Quality on its own can mean anything, good, poor ect:

Post Re: Unheard of valve make.

These are some of the Quality valves I have, a PL83 and PY80/800, the bigger boxes had PL36’s but now have the old Mullard and Mazda PL36’s that came out of sets. The ECL83 is a Southern valve. I don’t have much use for these valves any more though want to keep the E series, as these are obviously more useful for wirelesses.
