Default Could anyone tell me what this is/what it was used for?

Hey everyone,

I'm brand new to this forum following this purchase from a second hand store (see pictures). I'm assuming it has something to do with audio from looking at the controls reminded me of a Neve preamp/compressor so I thought i'd buy it for the £20 asking price. It's a pretty little thing after all. I'm quit interested to see if anyone would know what this is and where it would have came from? I've searched high an low on the internet and only found information about the G&E Bradley Multimeter, nothing on this device!

Thanks in advance for any replies!!

Cheers,

Deano!

It's ex-military: the number on the faceplate above the "test set audio level" descriptor is a NATO stock-number.

Basically, it was used [in some specific application] to measure the level of audio signals. What it was used for - well, try typing the NATO Stock Number into a search-engine - you might get lucky.

[expect the application to be really obscure, like a piece of 1970s warship fire-control-telephone equipment]

Commonly known as a Level Measuring Set (LMS). Usually calibrated in dBs rather than VUs though.

Thumbs up Re: Could anyone tell me what this is/what it was used for?

Yes, I think I would have bought that for £20 - with the intention of converting it into an A.C. / D.C. voltmeter or possibly an audio milli-voltmeter: perhaps both.
