Default Military Radios PRC 638, TRA 967 & TRC 300 any info please?

Afternoon all.

I have the following equipment but absolutely no info.

Iret PRC 638
Racal TRA 967
Thomson TRC 300
Antennae AT51 & AN224B

Rather than post pictures here, please see my MS OneDrive:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AimTvkgqP65ii8tfFHj8KCMaRBieVQ

The internet searching has revealed remarkably little, just very basic specifications.

I would like to press these into service as I believe they all work.. except the battery packs of course!

In particular I would like to know what the connections are for the various multiway sockets so that I can interface a mic, speaker, audio to from computer, ptt etc.

Even better would be circuit diagrams / schematics, user instructions etc.

Many thanks in advance for any information!

I used to own a TRA967 - there is a very annoying sidetone that is transmitted with the audio - for the life of me I cannot remember the exact component I lifted, but from memory it was a preset pot inside the radio - lifting the wiper of this pot disabled the sidetone (essential for conversing with non military sets)

I think the wiring of the microphone connectors on these sets follow the same pattern as the Clansman range of equipment

Cheers

Hi,
The Technical Manual for the Racal TRA967 is available to download from the VMARS site but it is in the Members Only area so you will need to join to download it - assuming you are not already a member that is.
The IRET and Thomson radios are rare beasts indeed in this country but if you do join VMARS it would be worth posting a request on their forum as someone in that group may know more.
Good Luck

Racal audio gear doesn't follow Clansman wiring and the plugs have different keying and may only have 6 pins. A Clansman plug can easily be modified to fit by removing the relevant key. The seventh pin is the centre one, easily removed if necessary.

Have you received the 2 emails with the translation of the Arabic on the Iret set I sent you this morning?

Hi Paul,

Send me a private message via the group with an e-mail address and I will send you the full manual for the TRA967. (It's not the VMARS copy).

Many thanks to Fred, Sean & Peter for the very useful info.

Fred, I have indeed received both of your emails.
Much obliged!

Peter, I understand that the Iret radio was simply thrown away as troops sought to escape quickly.
