Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
If anyone needs anything transporting between Leicester and Cottered, please PM me and I'll see if it can be accommodated.
I will be bringing one or possibly two old TVs to have a go at plus my QAC3 (with service data etc.), can bring my scope with built in AF function generator, AVO, a couple of DMMs and a cap meter, Weller soldering iron, netbook (hopefully with internet connection) and hopefully also a few ideas. Also an Aurora I can also bring some valves in case any are needed. Brian |

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
Just a quick update.
Thanks to Mike Barker, and the BVWS we have a good stock of components! I have a selection of the caps that the BVWS supply - I must express my gratitude for the assistance this offers - I am sure most attendees will benefit from this! Otherwise all plans are coming together nicely - out of the original list of people that picked the 27th Feb as attendees, we have 17 people attending, and a good half a dozen "experts", along with a few others that are coming along to offer help where they can. Looking forward to a fun day! Sean

Hi Eamonn,
I agree - I'm looking forward to this too and I must endeavour to get my radios and travel 'pack' of tools and components together. Regards Rob |

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
Anyone wanting to listen to their own choice of music?
Bring a CD along - there will be a "Pantry" transmitter on site - MW only (I hope) Sean Anything newer than 1982 need not apply!

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
I could ask if we could listen to talk sport in the morning to hear my team probably be beaten by Liverpool but I would think that I'm likely to be stoned by the other forum members!!

Only joking, I'll bring the Aurora and a dvd player plus some period material to play on it as a means of soak testing which ever set I (read 'we') get going first! Very much looking forward to the day. Greg

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
Greg,
If the BHTG kit was here I could do some "pantry" VHF for you..... Sadly it is down in Evesham, and isnt exactly easy to get hold of! Cheers Sean

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
Rest easy, the only sport I take part in happens in a pub, and that's only once a month!
I was thinking something a little more enjoyable than played on most AM stations..... Sorry Rob, but Cottered is a football free zone!

We can nip outside Rob as I'll be catching up with the football being a Liverpool fan.

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
I will bring a selection of pick of the pops with Alan Freeman, might also manage a Junior choice or two, they'll be on the laptop.
I'll work out what I have and then we can choose. |

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
I have an unwanted and unloved 1950s HMV 1373 (painted bakelite, MW/LW only, PCB) with a tatty case. It is untested, appears to be complete and untouched however it needs a new UY85 (lost vacuum) and the speaker is loose in the case. If anyone wants a set to play around with before feeling confident to tackle their own then they are welcome to it. I don't care what happens to it and don't particularly want it back.
I am bringing a box of components (R's C's etc but no valves), basic handtools, soldering iron, laptop PC and printer, extension leads, the HMV, two other sets to sort out if there is time, multimeter, lamp limiter, and if I have room I'll bring some test gear (which itself needs testing) too. I'm going to Birmingham on the way back and stopping the night there with the car in a public car park, so I want to limit to stuff I can fit in without folding the seats down if possible. Laptop will obviously spend the night in the hotel room. |

Re: Radio Workshops (Now with a poll).
Sorry I missed this folks.
I picked our car up from having it's head gasket done on Friday evening (£435) and the big ends went on Saturday morning ! Gutted, you bet I am - Only had the thing 3 months. Anyway, I digress. Hope you guy's had a good time and fingers crossed for the next one. See you at Harpenden. Dave W
