Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
Quote:
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...pictureid=3351 The Manage Attachments button just isn't there. I was advised that it is something on my end but I've spent a lot of time trying. When the forum moved to a new server it was briefly available but with nothing changed on my end, it later disappeared. Others have said the same, but I can upload and provide a link to the image so it's not the end of the world.

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
Could your monitor screen resolution be too small - for example, 640 x 480? Try something larger, such as 1024 x 768 or 1152 x 864. If you do make such changes, you will probably find that you will need to adjust the geometry settings of your monitor to suit.

'Manage attatchments' will always be there if you choose the Go Advanced option when editing. It looks different depending on whether you have JavaScript enabled, but it is there. You may need to scroll down to see it. Could you post a screenshot of the problem?

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
I have javascript enabled but this is all I get. Unless the site is using something on another site that I need to allow through 'NoScript', perhaps.
I am using the Go Advanced option as I write this post. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...pictureid=3352 Edit: posted wrong capture - fixed now.

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
What happens if you try the "paper clip" button at the top of the message box?

If the button isn't showing then it's a Javascript issue. Try disabling your script blocker or use a different browser.

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
I had NoScript set to allow vintage-radio.net so I was confident that wasn't the problem. But to make sure I just removed the NoScript add-on for Firefox completely and it's the same.
Same problem using Chrome and IE. I'll have to look into it further but I spent many hours previously trying to sort it out so I may just have to live with it. Not a major issue - I only mentioned it in another thread because someone else was having issues posting attachments and I wondered if it may be the same problem. Clicking the paper clip does nothing (none of those icons at the top do anything) so I understand that it's a Javascript issue. I just don't understand how it worked perfectly for several hours when the site was moved to a new server and then it suddenly stopped, without me changing anything at all on my end. Strange.

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
As Paul says, you have a Javascript issue. Your browser thinks it can handle Javascript so is executing that part of the web page, but the code isn't running so you don't see the button.
Possibly two FF add-ons are clashing somehow. If you disable Javascript completely you will see a Manage Attachments link rather than a button. The forum is perfectly usable without JS though a few things are a bit clunkier. |

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
If you haven't already done so, perhaps it's time for a deep scan of your computer for any nasties that may be lurking on your hard disk?

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
Definitely no nasties - I have three kids so I'm well on top of the nasties on all machines on our network.
Paul, that's an interesting idea - I'll explore it now. Thanks.

Re: Unable to post images. No "Manage Attachments" button.
Thanks Paul. I temporarily removed all add-ons and I still had the same problem, but I then used NoScript to disallow JS on the site and I now have a text link. Perfect.
If I run into other issues I can always allow JS again until I need to attach an image. Thanks again.
