Re: Keysight news The Electro Turbo Encabulator releases April 1st
Automotive spoiler alert!
The turbo encabulator etc. was originally done decades ago as a spoof by the people doing a presentation on General Motors automatic gearboxes. Still, the Keysight version is awfully thoroughly done by drawing in Dave (EEVBlog) Big Clive and even electroBOOM (The guy who explodes mains sockets in hotel rooms around the world) I wonder what people using translated versions (and Americans) think a Teleshag 8600 is? Apart from the date, the banana 15 seconds in gives it away.

I do think the guy from Keysight did well, he could almost give the late Professor Stanley Unwin a run for his money,

I tried to order one but the payment option wouldn't accept my card details. I should have tried before mid-day.

Ah, there is an article in the company archive that must still be current for Keysight.
See if you can find "Ordering a hamburger at HP"

Yes, that's a good one. Describes how I felt the past two weeks trying to talk binary to a Zodiac/Navman/Jupiter GPS receiver. I dialled in sick on Monday. Felt better ever since.

Back in the seventies, one of the electronics magazines had a "Fuse Blower" as an April Fool project. 😄😄

Wonderfully done, and the reviewers did a fine job getting their mouths round all that gobbledegook.
Well done Keysight. I like their style more and more, even if their mantra of "your base model car only comes with a 50cc engine, but software unlocked upgrades are available" can get a bit wearying. -Jeremy

Re: Keysight news The Electro Turbo Encabulator releases April 1st
Hi Folks, the Turbo Encabulator goes back more than a few decades, I have a booklet from Reyrolle dated 1944 that they handed out to their Engineers to assist them with the English language and it is fully described in there

Re: Keysight news The Electro Turbo Encabulator releases April 1st
When I worked at the Patent Office we often came across 'interesting' expressions in applications from overseas where the terminology for recent developments in technology had not reached the dictionaries used by their translators. One of my favourites was one dealing with the problem of "pilgrim step-like backwards reproduction", something that could affect an early type of video disc. Then there was an Edwardian-era family of Belgium-originating inventions for position location by wireless whose "fickle of construction" used a "multiple grasping ball" (a sort of rotary spark discharger) to ensure the absolute simltaneousness of emissions.
