New Chinese 78 and LP cartridge
I just come across a variant of the generic Chinese ceramic cartridge but with a 78/LP double sided stylus with the flag.
Just search for 'banpa BP2ATC' A good description is here: https://www.amazon.com/banpa-Turntab.../dp/B071WMFGHL Definitely looks worth a shot if you want to continue to play 78s and your crystal cartridge is beyond repair. I assume it is ceramic with the quoted 250 mV output.

Re: New Chinese 78 and LP cartridge
I've bought a few of these and they seem to be quite good. They fit the same clip as the "red" types and the BSR ST16 and ST17 styluses will fit although as the cantilever is slightly longer, it reduces the output a little.

Re: New Chinese 78 and LP cartridge
That link only produces the styli for the non-flipover stylus for the original Chinese Cartridge, but I'm sure I've sen the type described by sexton mallard on eBay, and, some time ago noticed that Steepletone, and possibly other importers, were selling new players fitted with the flipover stylus equipped cartridge, so they by now should be available.

Scroll down this thread a bit.
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/....php?p=1018776 Note it doesn't include the all important clip, but a clip from the red/black type will allegedly fit. |

Re: New Chinese 78 and LP cartridge
Looks like the Amazon link changed since my posting last night. It did have a description of the cartridge as opposed to just the stylii for the red cartridge as shown at the moment. Looks like the cartridge is currently unavailable at present from that source.

The Flipunder Cartridge fitted with a dual LP/78 stylus, is still available on eBay, and may be available elsewhere.

Re: New Chinese 78 and LP cartridge
No sign of any mounting clips tho' - probably because the cheapo record players have the mounting tabs built in to the arms.
