i got a signal generator online from mainland china i was happy with the unit and one day there was no signal output i eventually found a dry joint on a PCB to a rotary switch. and some time later the same problem so with my temperature controlled soldering iron i went over the 2 PCB s and soldered most of the joints on the boards. this time the unit worked so it just looks like the units are going out of the factory in china at a very fast pace. The unit is still very good value and with a soldering iron an easy fix.

i did make a B.N.C. to B.N.C. lead to test the unit to go from the signal generator to the oscilloscope i used the twist lock B.N.C. Connectors to cover the copper screen i used heat shrink with glue on the inside.

the first picture shows mains ac indication using two amber LEDs from the main mains filter PCB. the filter includes voltage spike suppression live to neutral filters a common mode choke and Y 4n7 filter caps.
the next picture shows the mains filter PCB with the mains plug covered with heat shrink.
the last picture shows the terminal block connecting the plug mains cable to the PCB Filter board. The front red led was changed to a 3mm high brightness led it was found the output was to bright and the 2K2 resistor giving 9mA was changed to a 33K 1/4 Watt resistor The main power filter caps were upgraded to Panasonic FR 105c industrial grade units, a very good value capacitor.
