Hello Neil,

That looks very much like the Philips L3G23T that I've just restored, here....

https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=21148

It'll make a nice set if you can find the missing bits and get it working again.

Howard.when i said this did not work,i assumed it ran on 9 volts.so when i found out it needed 18 volts i connected it up to a power supply and, surprise surprise it works.trouble is its revealed that the speaker rattles.will the speaker free up with use or does it mean i have to find another one. cheers neil..

Neil,

Have you tried removing the speaker in order to clear any debris that may be trapped between the cone and the front grill? It can often, but not always, be as simple as that!

Hello Neil,

As Edward said, take the speaker out and check for any bits of debris trapped under it. Check that no wires are resting on the inside of the cone as well. If the paper cone has holes or has come apart around the edge you might be able to glue it back together by patching it with tissue paper and copydex adhesive but if too bad then you'll need to find another speaker for it.
