The Ferguson Senator model 705T had the option of a wired remote control.

The remote control handset used with certain Murphy models made 1961 to 1962.
This two button mechanical device changes the channels and can either mute the sound or with the pre-set control around the back of the set adjust the sound to the required level.

Not quite British, but it was a British brand.
Ekco TVs sold by AEI in Oz in the very early 1960s had the option of a remote control of that type.
You pressed a button, actuating a spring loaded hammer, which hit a tuning fork, producing the ultrasound signal.

The turret tuner was then rotated by a massive motor via what looked loke a motorbike chain.
The sound of it operating was impressive!

Thr AEI/Ekco venture folded shortly after that.
Shame, as they were good receivers----probably juat a bit too expensive!

Another remote control set from 1961. The Alba T877 had a cable remote control system which was hard wired into the receiver. When parked up on the side of the cabinet the handset functioned as the control panel.
Like the Bush T101 solenoids were used to actuate the two band tuner.

The non remote version was the T866.
