Default Spotted - ID needed please - console TV.. Decca??

Hi All

Wow.. I remembered my password! Haven't been on here in ages. Life etc.

Saw this in a junk shop in Sheffield the other day. Also had some (basic crappy) reel-to-reels, a big radiogram and a fewer tabletop receivers, all valve based I think.

It seems the front badge was missing (evidence of one being attached at the bottom) so I couldn't get a positive ID on even the maker, but it seemed similar to the Decca sets with the slightly fan shaped baffles on the front.

Had the screen been flat,I would have said Decca projection set 1000.

So,not sure if it is all original.

It is a Decca 101. The Plessey Mark 1 chassis is installed which is almost identical to the chassis fitted in the Regentone Big 12 and many Defiant sets.

Yes David. A Plessey/Defiant chassis in a posh frock. A good chassis but a bit simple for such an elaborate cabinet. John.

Hi John,
remember the green Decca 121 cabinet? Well now it's going to be the recreation of a model 101. Job is going well and should be completed by the year 2025.....

I concur; thanks! I Googled several Decca potential model numbers but did not try that one!! Worth rescuing before it becomes a drinks cabinet?
