I think R N Fitton also made Stereosound equipment. Haynes radio, also mentioned by the OP, made a lot of the parts used in TV kits. Also complete kits I think, but I'm not sure about ready made sets.

Mr Beaumont of RN Fitton/ Ambassador also contributed to the GA Briggs (Wharfedale) book on amplifiers, mentioning a (pre-war or wartime?) radio of theirs using a 60-W lamp as ballast for the CCH35, EF39, EBC33, CL33, CY31 lineup with no reported heater failures.
