Tektronix 310A
I was recently given a Tektronix 310A scope, two things; the on/off switch, buried in the bowels of the scope doesn't work plus when connected via a series 100W bulb the bulb lights up but nothing else. I would not have bought such an item to repair, well out of my ability, but as it came free, well you never know. Can anyone help with a schematic?
Cheers, Ric. |

310A is a work of art. Nice bit of kit you have there.

Re: Tektronix 310A
That's a delightful little thing- and that "310A Folded off internal" shot on the linked-to page is a Tekhead centrefold.

Re: Tektronix 310A
Stick it somewhere warm for a week, it's probably been stored in less than ideal condition's for decades then check the mains tfmr is ok. Then it's a case of checking all your rails are present and are free of AC ripple - some of the big electrolytics might be leaky.
Don't be put off, these arn't too tricky to fix, they work the same as a simpler scope, a lot of the valves and apparent complexity is DC regulation. Andy.

Re: Tektronix 310A
hello Ric,
310A like to eat 175 Watts to feed the 33 tubes inside. Your 100W bulb is ON and the scope get nothing. greetings Martin

Re: Tektronix 310A
Good to see that, and you get a winter-warmer for the workshop to boot! I love the way that quality kit like this can just work after maybe many years of dormancy, Colin |

Re: Tektronix 310A
Good to see it working, my 585A workshop heater packed up the other day, thought it was the temp protection, but isn't, time to open it up.
Andy.

Re: Tektronix 310A
do not wonder to find a lot of pictures from my wellenkino in the Tek Wiki,
we are always working to make it better and better 310A is a fine scope, very amazing is the foldet cabinet construction. See also the 316, a faster version in this format. Hello Andy, what is with your 585A? You mean theere comes nothing except heating? Check the time relais tube, 6NO45 (6 volts, normally open, 45 seconds delay) Martin
