Default Weltron Prinzsound 2001 "Space Helmet"

Just wondered if anyone might have a copy of the circuit of this 8-track/radio player from the 70s? I have been looking for a number of years without luck. I do believe the circuit was in the back of the instruction manual, it was certainly published in "Riders".

It was sold under the Prinzsound name by Dixons in the UK and as Weltron in the US.

Many thanks,

Peter

If not, what's up with it?

Cheers,

Well actually it mainly works, the main problems are: 8-track fails to play, probably just the belt. The balance control increases/decreases the volume for both channels simultaneously rather than increasing one and decreasing the other. Possibly a bad joint where the slider attaches to the circuit board. So whilst not strictly necessary I always like the comfort of the circuit when working on a piece of kit. Oddly I have 2 of these and both suffer exactly the same problems.

Thanks for asking Steve.

The German instruction manual can be found here:

I would love to find one in English. I have to replace the belt on the 8-track and am flying completely blind...

Many, many thanks Quinncx, I have been waiting for the manual for years. Still would be nice to find the service manual on the web.

The service manual was published in Sam's Photofact SAMS #TSM-131 if anyone has this one.

Cheers,

Peter

You can get it from Sam's for $22:
http://www.photofactondemand.com/search.asp and search for TSM-131. I'm looking to see if I can find one for less...

Quinncx,

If you can find the SAMS I will gladly pay you for a copy of the 2001 bits in it.

Success! I got a new belt from eBay, opened up the radio and replaced the belt- now the 8-track player is working. I used a couple of adapters and am now able to play my iPod through the speakers- iffy sound quality but tons of fun for parties. I've written a post about it over on unpluggd.com:
