Default Missing internal Aerial in Irish radio

Hi again, my radio B3IF80U has no internal Ariel, only 4 wires coming from the chassis. Would it be alright to dis guard them and plug in an external Ariel or should I do something with them. Would the internal Ariel have been tuned to that particular set or would an Ariel from a different set work. Regards Dick.
