Gould OS4020 Digital Storage Oscilloscope

Hi!

There has been mention a few times on here about the Gould OS4020 Digital Storage Oscilloscope being very similar to the OS4000 – this is only partly true as the OS4020 is capable of storage of a waveform as slow as 1 cycle in 200 s or 0.005 Hz – it's Timebase Speed Switch is calibrated from 20 s/div down to 1 μs/div., a much slower range than many standard Oscilloscopes !

By a fortunate lucky find purely by chance I can now share the correct operation and service manual for this, also covers the Plotter 4022 Option and there's an OS4020 Output Unit Supplement as well!

The OS4020 wasn't produced in as large a quantity as the OS4000, and doesn't turn up as often, but the manual is worth well keeping!

Alas to say one of the layout pages is badly skewed in scanning but I don't think anything vital from the page drawing is missing – I'll try and produce a corrected page at a later date, when I can find the original typefaces used on it!

Thanks for the scanned manual. Saves me having to scan my copy. I will do you a copy of the skewed page "Section 5 Maintenance fig 5.2" and email it to you.
A warning to you. Watch the transformer. It failed on my scope when I turned my back for a couple of hours and meant I had to replace it from a scrap scope.

OS4020. Replacement page for the skewed page in manual from aef.se which Chris55000 posted today.
Also a front panel view taken from a sales brochure. Gives a better view of the facilities offered by the 10Hmz-digital scope of 1981. Price then £2906. This model has 4k storage increased from the 1k on the OS4000.

I now hear from Chris55000 that his web copy of the OS4020 manual is missing pages 20/21, diagrams of Write timing and Trigger control signals.
So I attach them so that others can correct the web copy quoted by Chris.
I have watermarked them in my usual way so that you and I know where they came from.

Solartron regulated Power Supply SRS152 and SRS151.
I was interested to see my posting for the Solartron SRS151 of 12 March 2010 has now re-appeared to support this week's thread about the SRS152 anonomously by courtesy of FixItNow. Saves me having to look back.

Thanks for your help with these three pages – that makes a complete '4020 book now available from this Forum for others when they need it!

It does puzzle me why so many manuals get pages missed off when scanned, I expect the people are in too much of a hurry to count and check them all, or they're bunging them in high–speed a.d.f. type scanners that might pick up two or three sheets at once, and then they don't look at the file afterwards to make sure it's all there!

All the downloads for the Tek 465B manual were missing four diagrams, (including the one Tek themselves posted!) plus the associated parts table and waveforms for a very long time until Member "Dickie" Richard came to the rescue!

Hi!

Roland from the Swedish A.E.F. Forum has just emailed the original missing pages from their Gould OS4020 Manual – this must be a later printing to the pages Bill Nichols posted, as these pages have Fig. 3.13 identified by a caption – Bill's page had the Fig. 3.13 caption missing for some obscure reason!

I've just had an update from Roland of the A.E.F. Website to let me know they have finally corrected the Gold OS4020 manual with a new re–scan and the copy they now offer from here. . .
