Default Metal Base Mount for Nano VNA H4

Taking advantage of a gift voucher, my new NanoVNA H4 arrived a few days ago.

It rattled, even before first switch-on, so I opened it up to have a look, and fixed the rattling internal bus connector.

The SMA connector to internal main PCB worried me as being quite fragile in practical everyday use, so I made a base from #18 aluminium.

I use a lot of BNC, and have a lot of BNC adaptors, so these connectors were used, but N Type would also be a good choice.
A small retainer plate with hex holes removes any possibility of BNC adaptor rotating, as it is mounted only with the threaded SMA and nut.
Hidden wide Velcro holds the rear of the case to the base.
Base side flanges are 5mm only, so that the side switches and USB-C can be used OK.

The secret to Velcro in this application is to stick the tape to parts, and use a piece of eg baking paper between hook and fur, assemble, tighten connectors, then remove paper, and nip up SMAs.

The BNC F to SMA F bulkhead adaptor with hex flange may be difficult to find.
I used MiniKits Australia part #BNA11.
No associations with company.
Hex flange not critical, but worthwhile.

Nothing revolutionary here.

Now, to turn it on.

Having used my nano for a while, I can say that this little ally thing is the best thing I built last year by a country mile.
Very solid.

Still having a dummy spit though on the nano menu thing "MAGLOG" instead of "RETURN LOSS".

So, 'channel 0' is port 1 for s-parameters, and 'channel 1' is port 2 for s-parameters.

That's going to confuse people. s-parameters are the natural language of VNAs

That's because that's what the scale is, logarithmic magnitude, which is used to measure return loss.
