Default Beocenter 5000

Afternoon all just tried to play a tape but no audio, deck very muffled, radio all OK.

Any ideas? Tried other tapes and LP's, still the same.

Many thanks, Steve.

If it was just the tape playback then I would say first give the heads a good clean.

But if same problem when playing LP's then gets more difficult, would try cleaning the Tape/Record Player /Radio selector switch (s).

Not entirely clear what you are explaining.

Do you mean an electrical short between the tape and tape deck, if so what leads you to that conclusion ?

Are you saying that when the cassette is ejected that at the same time it goes into Playback mode and tries to play the tape before it ejects ?

OK Steve, so by deck you mean record deck/turntable as opposed to tape/cassette deck.

Does sound strange, is it only the eject operation that stops the turntable or could other operations/physical disturbance do the same ?
