Old Ever Ready PP7 battery
Here is a recent carboot find, an unused PP7 battery. Unfortunately it is dead, but maybe the contents can be scooped out and replaced with six AAs. Not sure when this was manufactured.

Re: Old Ever Ready PP7 battery
It can be done - I bought a 're-filled' LT/HT battery for an old portable valve radio a few years back and it looked the part.

Re: Old Ever Ready PP7 battery
Was it rechargeable, particularly the HT side?
I'm not sure how to charge 10s of cells in series effectively.

Re: Old Ever Ready PP7 battery
My experience of the Small Battery Co. is that nothing is available that isn't readily available elsewhere.
I don't know if anyone else has had a more optimistic result? |

Quote:
10 PP3s, the usual 90V string, could be charged individually and simultaneously with the harvest from a few boot sale raids With a suitable screened and filtered design, it's perfectly possible to fit a low voltage highish capacity single rechargeable cell plus a couple of switching voltage converters inside an old battery case.

Re: Old Ever Ready PP7 battery
I've used strings of el cheapo (one dollar shops) 9 volt batteries to power portable valve radios - think one had 5 for the 45+ ht although another one had 10 fitted for the 90v+; and D cells for the heater current. For this battery surely 3 or 4 el cheapo 9v in parallel would do the trick?? scavenge the snap connectors off the dud one.
