Default Teleton VHF tuner: A Query

Televisions are not really my area so I have a query.

I have a Teleton TD-12EU television and I would like to know what the 'dot' between U and channel 12 on the VHF tuner does. Whenever I select it I am presented with a blank gray screen.

Cheers,

Jim

Default Re: Teleton VHF tuner: A Query

I think it's simply an unused position on the dial.

You must have worked out by now that the 'U' position selects the UHF channels (21-69) , tuned in by the knob below. The other numbers (2-12) are VHF channels. In Western Europe, where this set was marketed, VHF TV broadcasting used channels 2 to 12. In North America, VHF TV broadcasting used channels 2 to 13. I suspect that when they made this set, Teleton adapted an American VHF tuner and disconnected channel 13, leaving a dot in its place.
I could be wrong; my theory is based on lists of television channel frequencies.

Thought that might be the case, no harm in asking though.

Cheers,
