Telsen Air Marshall 3
Good evening.
Newbie post here. Not as scary as the first CB call-out! I have just started a project - a Telsen Air Marshal 3. Does anyone know of this radio or have any information relating to it please? I would love to get it operational again but Mike at radiomuseum.org tells me he thinks it runs on three batteries, which may push a restoration outside of my capability. It’s a smashing looking item and it would be great to bring it back to life. Many thanks, Dave. |

Re: Telsen Air Marshall 3
I would say it's a rare thing. Telsen did kits, components and a few ready built radios, I wonder if yours was from a kit. If you know the valve lineup then I'm sure someone on here will suggest the batteries required.

Re: Telsen Air Marshall 3
Hi Dave, there should be a very similar circuit somewhere in the Telsen stable as they produced a variety of sets that did not differ much
Yes it will need 3 batteries An LT 2V accumulator for the valve filaments An HT battery of about 90v that may be tapped at a lower voltage for a feed to an early stage A GB battery of up to 9v that provides negative bias in 1.5v steps for some of the valves DO NOT run the set witout this battery connected and do not change tappings with the HT applied or you stand a good chance of damaging valves and transformers Ht battery is often provided by several pound shop PP3's in series; if you search the forum you will see several designs for power supply units that were used with this type of set, quite easy to build Post a success story when you have it running. It will need a long wire aerial How many battery leads does it have? Note that the valves are not too difficult or expensive to get Ed |

Hi Kevin.
The first two valves (LtoR) have really faded inking, I believe they are both Mazda HL2. The third valve is a Mullard PM2DX. |

Have a look at this post
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...4&postcount=41 Bobdger and I posted some Telsen blueprints, your set may be based on one of them. Peter |

Re: Telsen Air Marshall 3
This looks like one of Telsens factory built sets rather than a kit. Their kits are much more simple and the use of rivets on paxolin panels suggests factory build than home build. Looks to be a very nice project, I have a Telsen Jupiter S.G. kit which is very nice for a home build. It would be great to see more photos of the chassis on your receiver, I've not seen one of their factory sets before.

Hello,
From the Worldradiohistory website the picture below is the back page of the "Telsen Radiomag 4" circa 1933? Yours Richard |
