Default Help with tapes.

My wife has had some tapes in storage for over 40 years. Her mother sent her parents a weekly tape as a way of keeping in touch. Her motherís patents did the same.
I recently acquired a Grundig TK18 to see if the tapes would still play for a trip down memory lane. We have 5 tapes. Two played fine but the other 3 had a problem. We could hear her motherís voice in the background but also spoiling the play back was what appeared to be a foreign language or her mother speaking backwards, we couldnít be sure.
Any ideas what this could be and can it be fixed. Very grateful for any advice.
Thankyou

It sounds as if the tapes were recorded on a 4 track recorder and you are trying to play them back on a 2 track recorder. There's no workaround - you just need a 4 track machine.

I'm sure there are forum members who would digitise these for you for a modest fee.

A 4-track machine will also play back 2-track tapes.

The TK 18 / TK 18L is a 2 track machine.

Thanks. I don’t know much about these things, I bought the Grundig TK18 hoping it would be OK. I think the easiest option is to have them digitalised by someone who knows what the are doing. Any offers would be most welcome.

I can do this as I have both 2 and 4 track machines available.
