Old telephone
Hi,
Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of this early telephone I spotted at a friend's house. The label on it refers to the installer, rather than the maker, I think. The bakelite mouth piece is missing, and it had a handset rather than just an ear phone. Just wondering if there's info out there about its origins? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Pete.

Re: Old telephone
This typically would be an "upgrade" to an electric bell circuit for summoning ones servant more effectively.

Re: Old telephone
I assume that handset is a later modification with its transmitter superseding the one on the front. It would presumably have had a watch-type receiver.

I love the way the brass hinges are used for the electrical connection to the (original) transmitter!

Re: Old telephone
That seems to be fairly standard on these sort of 'phones. They seem to maintain a fairly reliable connection on the ones I have.
