Collaro: Conquest vs F200C, differences?
I just registered at this forum because of Michael Maurice's excellent thread on servicing the Conquest.
Our family has a Magnavox c.1960 stereo console. The turntable has not been used for many years - it does not turn and the knobs are stuck. I removed it with the goal of restoring it to working condition. Under the rubber mat the tag reads: Model F200C, SerNo. 453461, Ref No. 6004. I have the service and maintenance guide for the Conquest (thanks, Michael). Can anyone tell me if this change mechanism is the same as on the F200C? (the tone arm is different) I hesitate to separate the changer until I'm sure I have good documentation. Cheers! |

Can you post a picture please? There were a number of pick up arms fitted to both the Conquest and the later Studio.

Re: Collaro: Conquest vs F200C, differences?
Michael,
Here are the photos of the tone arm on my F200C. Note: the reed switches seem to work properly even though their tips are bent. Is the Collaro F200C a Conquest or Studio by another name? Cheers! |

That is a Conquest. No picture of pick up arm there.

You're right. Here's the top part of the tone arm. My previous post was focused on the wiring under the plate, since that is the identifiable difference from Michael's Conquest article and my unit.
I'm asking "If the wiring is different could the changer mechanism be different"? Cheers! |

Definitely a Conquest with a different arm, wired for stereo

Michael,
In that case I'll start restoring the changer after Christmas. It's only a few springs, gears, nuts and bolts... nothing to go wrong! Thanks to your guide I hope to get it working again. Cheers! |

Yes it is the Magnavox type of arm, popular in the U.S.
