Re: Kenwood P-5X linear Turntable
There is one on offer here for a price - https://picclick.com/Original-Factor...l#&gid=1&pid=1 - but it seems to work on the same 'lug a chassis with the tonearm on it along with a servo motor' principle as this Marantz I repaired a few years back. My light hearted video might be of help - depending upon the problems you are experiencing. https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...king+turntable

Re: Kenwood P-5X linear Turntable
That's great thank you for the link to the service manual I have found a few more on eBay but thinking along the lines of just stripping it down and checking things like the belt and also lube what needs lubing and see what it does.
So will take a look at your YT video and see what I can learn from it and strip mine down. Thanks |

Thank you Roger just took a look at your video, very interesting, however I shall definitely avoid one of these if ever asked to “fix” one, I’ll stick to BSR!

Re: Kenwood P-5X linear Turntable
So I am hoping that the dodgy belt is the culprit for the tracking issues and when I shove 7.2V to the motor nothing happens except to spin the motor side
Also should I lube the chrome shaft and also where the back of the sledge rubs along the base? Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement belt and the turntable rubber mat? When i have looked at the turntable mat it looks like I will have to buy the complete thing as the attachments seem to be from one side to the other and the connections seem to snap when I pull up the cover :-( Last edited by JCUKVINTAGERADI; 22nd Dec 2018 at 6:47 pm. |

Re: Kenwood P-5X linear Turntable
Indeed you can - that's what I did to check that I had actually found the only problem.
Very wise John - I only bought that one to discover how these things worked. It seemed to me to be a ludicrously complicated way of getting a stylus in a groove !

£1 spent on a bag of assorted elastic bands, picked the correct size.
All working as expected so pleased with that. |
