What colours for Emor Globe radios?
Hi - there is a lively discussion about Emor radios going on the US Antique Radio Forum (ARF) and I have the following question:
What colours did the UK model come in? Thanks for the help. Gary |

Re: What colours for Emor Globe radios?
Hi Gary and welcome to the forum
Most of the Emor's you see in the UK are Chrome including my own example. Other colours I have seen are Blue, Green, Gold, Red and Pink. What is not for sure if all of these are original colours. Roger Grant did a great article in the BVWS Bulletin back in 2012 but my copy is 80 miles away. Cheers Mike T

Re: What colours for Emor Globe radios?
Thanks, Mike, it’s great to be here. I’ve lurked on your Forum enjoying the discussions for years but have never jumped in. I have the article by Thomas Turland from the March 1988 edition of the BVWS Bulletin (Vol. 12 No. 4) and have joined the BVWS to get access to read the article you mention and to all their issues.
Mike and Mick – thanks for your colours. So far have confirmed: Chrome, Gold, Pink and Blue. Any other confirmed colours of original anodized aluminum out there? Gary |

I have worked on two of these. One chrome & one “ gold”. The latter appeared to be anodised.

Oh, and can you please tell me - what are the frequency ranges of the shortwave bands?
Thanks, Gary |

Re: What colours for Emor Globe radios?
Thanks, Tim. You're a lucky guy to have come in contact with two of these radios! Most collectors here in Canada have never even heard of them, although there was a Canadian model.

Re: What colours for Emor Globe radios?
The chrome one I worked on is the subject of a “ recent repair”( although it was probably near 15 years ago!) on Paul’s main VW site. There might be a picture of the tuning scale on there. The two I did were for the UK market so had MW, LW and the “ usual” short wave I think.

Re: What colours for Emor Globe radios?
I went back over all the Emor posts and found the graphics of a tuning scale that indicate the following bands:
SW: 52m – 13.5m (5.8MHz – 22MHz) MW: 550m – 200m (545kHz – 1500kHz) LW: 2100m – 800m (143kHz – 375kHz) Does this look right? Gary |
