Radios with "energised" speakers
Hi. Are radios with "energised" loud speakers inherently "hummy"? Just wondering. Thanks Rich.

Re: Radios with "energised" speakers
Absolutely not! The one I have (Ferguson 461) has a 'humdinger' coil fitted in series with the speaker as well. This coil is connected in antiphase to the main speaker energising coil and is designed to cancel out any residual hum. Make sure that the smoothing caps are in good condition.

Re: Radios with "energised" speakers
I have quite few 1930's Murphy radios with energised loud speakers and they are completely hum free.
