Car stereo Blaupunkt Woodstock SQR88 blown something on installation
Hi all
I was hoping someone could help me, I recently bought a mint Blaupunkt Woodstock/Memphis SQR88 (shipped from Lithuania to the UK which took almost 4 weeks) and after it was working perfectly fine for a few minutes I have stupidly blown something. When testing the auto aerial function, the accessory switched live cable (which I stupidly had exposed) touched the body/case of the radio so shorted out to ground and now nothing displays apart from backlight. Is there a specific internal component that may have blown from this sort of contact? Or have I damaged something more significant? I’ve managed to find and print off a full circuit diagram but if I know what it all means I’m praying it’s an easy fix - Please help!!! Thanks Dan |

Post an extract from the circuit, covering power in, switching and power out. There might be a supply fuse fitted to this radio which will have blown.

Yes, there's usually a 20mm glass fuse fitted in the back of these, where the power connectors plug in. And this will probably be on the main (Ignition Key= Accessory position) switched supply. So it may only have the backup supply present, which it may power the illumination from.

IMHO the backlight may be driven from the car panel lighting circuit.
