Panasonic SG4000 - volume control distortion
Hi! First post so please be gentle with me I have recently acquired a Panasonic SG4000 music centre which is the exact same model that I had 40 years ago and which I always regretting getting rid of. It is in excellent condition however I have noticed that on adjusting the volume there is a loud crackle comes through the speakers before it settles down. Should I be looking at replacing speaker cable / cleaning up volume control knob? Apologies if this is a stupid question

Re: Panasonic SG4000 - volume control distortion
Hello Gill, welcome to the forum. There are no stupid questions here.
With the unit turned off, just try 'exercising' the control by moving it briskly back and forwards over its whole range of travel a minimum of say 100 times, set it back to minimum, turn it back on and try turning the volume up. If the crackle problem has gone, great. If it is still there but not as bad, you need to try to get some specialised switch cleaner fluid into the body of the volume control pot. |

Pleased to report crackling has gone, thank you! It was probably because the unit hadn't been used in a while
