Default 1947 GPO 332 Restoration

Hello guys,

I'm back after a couple of months.

Since my successful restoration of an avocado green two tone GPO 746 which I restored for use in my bedroom I've been kind of hooked. I spotted a 1947 GPO 332 at Newark Auto-jumble today and couldn't resist temptation and I had to buy it. I paid £40 and its in pretty mint condition it was just really grimmy, but since the clean all the components have come up lovely.

My only issue is, is that I am unable to remove the plastic mouth piece cup, its jammed solid onto the receiver and I sort of need to get it out to replace the curly cord with a more traditional vintage style one. The curly cord is also slightly frayed too.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can use or am I do something wrong just by turning it? The speaker cup at the top of the receiver came free quite easily, but I'm worried about breaking the mouthpiece by applying too much pressure on it.

I hope someone can help me cheers.

thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Nice find for that amount!

To release the mouthpiece, you have to depress a catch by poking something through the hole in the side of it, and pressing it quite hard as you rotate.
