Default Repairing the sliding volume control on a Dynatron HFC 59

I recently purchased a particularly nice Dynatron HFC 59 with a lenco deck,it all runs very nicely albeit from the fact that it feels like the sliding volume control knob (slider type) has started to possibly fracture within its workings I've taken the unit to a chap ( close by to me in Oxford) who is usually very good at repairing items of this nature, however when I deposited the unit with him yesterday ( Saturday) he wasn't particularly optimistic that he might be able to " repair " the faulty control, has anybody any tips on these, might it be something I could repair,or alternatively does anybody have any recomendations as to somebody who might be able to offer a repair service? Thanks

It would probably help if it were possible to have a picture of the offending control, it is quite possible a member has one in his stock.
