12 Button Trimphone
My Trimphone has started making a crackling sound even when the handset has not been lifted. On an incoming call the phone does not ring however I can make an outgoing call on it.
Any ideas on what may have caused this and is it possible to have it mended as I would hate to lose /scrap it? Thanks, |

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
Is the crackling coming from the receiver or from inside the main body of the 'phone? Also, is the crackling there all the time?

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
Hi Darren,
The crackling is coming from the handset rather than the body of the 'phone when I ring the phone the handset crackles even more but does not ring. Cheers, Tony. |

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
I wonder whether the cradle switch is operating correctly. The receiver shouldn't even be in circuit when the handset is down.
When you try to to 'phone in to the trimphone are you getting ringing or busy at the calling telephone?

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply, with Christmas I had to dash about for a couple of days. When I ring the 'phone from another 'phone I get crackling. The Trimphone does not ring but if you answer it it is connected, when you then hang up the trimphone the handset still crackles even on the cradle. I can still make outgoing calls on it. Best regards, Tony. |

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
That eliminates the possibility of the cradle switch not operating then as that would result in the calling 'phone receiving the "busy" tone and the call not being connected.

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
There are other contacts on the cradle switch. It will need to come out and be cleaned and adjusted.

Re: 12 Button Trimphone
I've found a lot of Trimphone crackling (off-hook) is down to the rubbish carbon microphone inserts: not up to the same standard as those in 700 series instruments.
