Default Zenith radio tuning capacitor.

I am in the process of restoring this radio for a Forum member , when I got to the stage of repairing the tuning drive mech , not sure if it originally had a steel, or cloth ribbon type belt , I have fitted a rubber drive belt seems to work ok , but what I found was there was a return type spring on the tuning capacitor very strange! also half the anti backlash gear was missing ,needless to say I had to remove the spring to get it to work properly , anyone come across a spring on the tuning capacitor like a small clock spring about 4/5 turns , Mick.
