Mystery radio "Trinity electric co ltd" "Baronette"
Even though the model name Baronette is on the front and the manufacturers name Trinity electric co ltd and patent number 711959 on the back, I cannot find anything on this model or manufacturer.
The original question (mainly for the tube complement and mains voltage) was asked in a Dutch forum where you can also find the pictures, see https://www.nfor.nl/index.php?id=267346 |

Not much to go on, but the company was struck off in 1963: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...VI2s6VmesbC-vA

Well done Dave.
There's a bit about Mr Baron's naturalisation in 1950 here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...v6O-74b5Kc41M_ Polish perhaps? N. EDIT: Yes, Polish: https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...736882&catln=7 Last edited by Nickthedentist; 29th Apr 2019 at 9:51 am. |

Further Googling reveals he lived at Birchfield, Rue Du Tapon, St. Saviour. Jersey and that his daughter (1952-2013) was called to the bar in the early 1970s: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Baron

Fancy a small, no-name, company going to the expense of having an injection moulded cabinet produced to their own specifications.

Re: Mystery radio "Trinity electric co ltd" "Baronette"
Either I have one of these or I had it until very recently: unpacking is taking a while and I can't remember whether I consigned it with about half my sets for sale in Newcastle just before we moved house. Certainly a very basic TRF, but my example had a plain card back - definitely no mention of Trinity anywhere - and memory's telling me that it appeared in one of the magazines (Radio Constructor maybe) in about 1960 as a project to build.

Re: Mystery radio "Trinity electric co ltd" "Baronette"
Here we are, just twelve and a half years ago: Brian Pateman found the copy of Radio Constructor in question, March 1960
https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...t=11613&page=2 in response to a mantelpiece photo which included my Baronette, https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...3&d=1159964603 I still have the clock, the other two radios and the painting, so it's only the Baronette whose fate I'm unsure of. As I mentioned in that thread, I'd heard of an example presented as a product of the "British Baronette Radio Co." or something very like it. |

Re: Mystery radio "Trinity electric co ltd" "Baronette"
Very interesting piece of history about Mr. Baron. The kit set depicted in RC is indeed the same as the set found in the Dutch forum thread, so the basic questions have been answered
The question remains, what's the link between Mr. Baron, Lasky's radio (the kit seller) and Trinity electric? |

Re: Mystery radio "Trinity electric co ltd" "Baronette"
Could it be that Trinity Electric closed down and Mr Baron sold surplus parts in stock to Lasky's. This is what happened to surplus parts from Perdio and Defiant (re-sold as the Contessa kit set).

The timeline seems to be the other way around, otherwise it would have made sense.
