Regentone model W5 help please
Hello. I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some information about this please. I have no idea of its age, rarity etc. Many thanks in advance, Colin

Re: Regentone model W5 help please
Hello and welcome.
It's a combined HT eliminator and battery charger. As implied, it was used to supply the HT for a radio, the LT would be from an accumulator. When the radio was not in use the switch would be changed to LT to charge said accumulator. Probably from the 1930s or thereabouts. |

Re: Regentone model W5 help please
Thank you Bill. Would it still be of use to somebody in the vintage radio scene do you think?
I was planning on converting it to a table lamp, but if its a useable/rare item I would prefer it to be saved. What do you think please? Thanks in advance |

Well, it's not in the best of conditions, but would probably be usable if restored. Such eliminators are not particularly rare, so aren't very valuable, but it would be a shame to see it ruined.

Re: Regentone model W5 help please
The instinct of most people here is to preserve and restore everything, but in fact this item isn't of any real value and wouldn't be much use even if restored. If you want to convert it to some other use, go ahead - it's yours to do with as you wish.

Re: Regentone model W5 help please
This is from the early 30's and would have been designed as an accessory to power something like this https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/regent..._electric.html.
It's probably quite rare but only worth about £15. |
