Bush DAC11. Year of Manufacture?
Hi Is there any way to actually tell the year of a radio manufacture from the serial no on the rear, I have just purchased a Bush dac11 supposedly 1949 but just wondered if there was any way of being sure, couple of pics below, andy

Re: year of manufacture
Nice set. According to the Molloy/Poole service book vol.1. it first appeared in June 1949.

Re: Year of Manufacture
Sometimes the capacitors are dated. If it has any large can electrolytics for smoothing the HT they may simply have a date printed on them. If there are any smaller Hunts capacitors they may have a three letter date code (details here https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=78250). Of course this info wouldn't date the set itself, just set an earliest possible date for it (assuming the components are original). But I imagine that large manufacturers would get through component stock quite quickly. My experience with Quad, who weren't that large, was that the component dates were typically only a few months earlier than the equipment itself.
Cheers, GJ
