The Negatron
Anyone know who made the negatron valve, two anodes and a "grid"
I'm aware of the Scott Taggart connection. Lawrence. |

Re: The Negatron
The only reference I can find is in Tyne which just says Scott-Taggart made the valve in around 1919, advertised in 1922 after he gained a patent. it does not say who he worked for at the time.

Re: The Negatron
Yes, not too much info on the web, Radio Communication Co used a negatron in some of their marine communications equipment, they were apparently backers to Mullard.

Re: The Negatron
Ah - Scott-Taggart was a research engineer and later consultant at the Radio Communication Co and he worked for Ediswan before that.
This (http://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_negatron.html) suggests his own company ST Co. Ltd. but Tyne says that didn't exist until 1926. Jeremy |

Re: The Negatron
These were often called the "Polar Negatron" and are mentioned in John W Stokes's book "70 Years of Radio Tubes and Valves: A Guide for Electronic Engineers, Historians and Collectors"

Re: The Negatron
This sounds like a similar principle of operation to gammatron mode- perhaps the different names were to avoid focus on patent implications?
