TEK scope excitement dashed
Hi all, I've been very excited awaiting my first little TEK scope to turn up, it arrived today packed by.. well I cannot say what level of intelligence did it. Instructions were given etc double boxing plenty of cushioning between boxes, none of which were followed, anyway enough of that. The CRT is smashed, don't suppose anyone can advise where to get a replacement or indeed what the CRT is. I have a part number 154-0929-00 (Standard/P31) Would a member have a spare kicking about they could sell me? Gutted was so looking forward to a play today. found one reference http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tek-crts.html#catalog was in the states and cost secondhand $120 , looks like they don't turn up often. I want to weep Chris Last edited by oldticktock; 24th Mar 2011 at 10:31 am. |

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
The 2205 is not one of Teks finest instruments & IMHO does not justify the cost of importing a tube from Sphere. The $120 + shipping + import VAT + handling fees really is more than the scope is worth.
You were really unlucky that the CRT was smashed in transit especially in such a light scope. It may well be a lot cheaper to buy another scope than try to repair this one. Do you belong to the Tekscopes forums? It never ceases to amaze me the parts that members have & are willing to sell if it keeps a scope working. PM me if you would like me to ask on Tekscopes for you. Phil |

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
What really bad luck. Do you have any recourse to the seller as you did provide specific packing instruction.

Phil PM sent
Tim I can but try but I don't hold out much hope I was hoping someone might say Oh you can fit this with tube/equiv with this modification, guess desperation even hoped someone would have one kicking about. I know that it's not probably the best of scope but It would have been a start for me. Chris |

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
See if you can claim off of the seller - use the money to buy another scope.
(it depends how you paid - PAYPAL - Credit Card) That poor thing now looks decidedly second hand

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
Oh I so don't want to get my hopes up but the vendor has just responded and said if I provide photo evidence of the breakage and he will send me another exact scope out today. He said he insured it so wants to also make a claim and wants words with his packing people as my instructions were passed on.
My faith in human nature might be restored... fingers crossed Chris Last edited by oldticktock; 24th Mar 2011 at 12:02 pm. |

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
The Tek 22xx series were not one of Tek's finest moments.
I don't even think they were made in the US. However, I hope it gets resolved, the only problem is many courier/delivery companies won't insure glass. |

Bad news, all too common though I have had some bad luck with posted items and never had any refunds or help, I really hope you get it sorted. Good Luck

Re: TEK scope excitement dashed
Here's a photo that shows the extent of the break.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys I have tried a few sites and its seems this CRT is quite rare now, I've also got a query in with TEK themselves and a few others awaiting responses now. Chris |

Have you tried Telford Electronics, The Old Mess at Donnington Telford, they may be able to help.

Oldticktock.
Sorry for your misfortune. I've had a look through my Tek stuff and don't have a tube. Boom. Try this: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/TekScopes/ and this: http://www.tek.com/forum/ |
