Default Radio collection. Value?

I have four radios I found whilst clearing my uncle's house. He used to collect old radios. There's a Murphy A674 which works but the volume crackles when turned up, a Phillips 745A, a Cossor 396 and a Bradio 32 all untested.

Do these have any value?

They have some value but it's not going to change your retirement plans! Maybe £60-120 in total depending on condition. The Philips and Cossor are the more valuable (at least to me!).

Some value, though don't turn them on.
I don't "test" old radios at all. I test certain parts in them, some of which are replaced, before applying power.
Search COMPLETED sales on eBay, ignore asking prices.

Hi Mark

Please don't sell "parts" from the Cossor 396 as they are difficult to replace and make restoration of this set very difficult. Virtually the entire value of this set is in a couple of parts.

You will get the best price for these sets on EBay but posting such big heavy sets isn't easy.

If you get no serious interest in the Cossor which is a very nice set restored please consider me interested.

Cheers Mike T

Without seeing photos I'd say no more than £25 each, possibly less if they've suffered for being in the attic. I'm afraid they're all 'much of a muchness' type sets with no particular collectable points in terms of appearance or design. But for sure someone will want them for the kind of prices that I mention. Some collectors just happen to like certain sets, and that may well be the case here, but they're not sets with broad appeal. Best of luck.

What's a Bradio 32?

Is it this Philips 745A or the later post war? https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/philips_745a_745_a.html
Not sure if there were UK versions of the post WWII up to 1960s of BX745 series
Is it this Murphy or a later variant? https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/murphy_a674a_67.html

The Cossor is lovely

A large lump of bakelite - "Braidio", actually - made for Rentertainments Ltd.:

Very thick bakelite too, if it's anything like the model 21 which is the only one I've owned.

Thanks Paul
I'd like a Braido 32. The only niceish Bakelite set I have is a Bush DAC 10. I had two other mid 1950s that don't much look like typical Bakelite models.
