Re: Technology related anachronisms on TV and in films etc.
There are indeed a number of subtly-different versions of this advert. Perhaps this helps explain:

Here's the 60 second version of the Cadbury ad

Yes, it (sort-of) makes sense, but you do need to watch the same ad a few times to appreciate what's going on.
Just noticed that the green radio becomes a portable TV towards the end too.

The kiosks are K1, K6 and the ghastly K8.
Has anyone else noticed that, in the last 'era', there's no kiosk at all? |

That Cadbury('s) advert is too subtle by half!
Incidentally a K8 (along with a K6) turns up in the BBC series 'This Town'. To think there are still some left! Sadly the user has a problem with the dial and seems to be turning it backwards, after putting 10p in before dialling... |

Watched an episode of the Avengers the other night. Featured in no particular favourite order: a radio ham, who was murdered and all his equipment wrecked including an AR88; a Tek 500 series scope with a dangerous looking sine wave on the screen; a huge Dekatron scaler/counter that doubled as a radio receiver ; plus the rather lovely Mrs Peel!

I am sure that the someone has ideas about the identities of the radios.

"Father Goose" 1964 on Film Four today.
It seems we had RA17's in WWII. Who knew?

Post No.426-
Another episode of The Avengers (probably called The Positive-Negative Man) was notable as it featured a steel cased Avometer in it's correct functional orientation- face up. Full marks. We never got to see the front of it, so only us anoraks spotted it! Fans should note Diana Rigg's daughter featured in BBC Detectorists, and the likeness is instantly recognisable. (A series recommended for it's lack of anachronisms and inaccuracies) Dave |
