How about a thread or a forum for reels?
Hi, I am sure there are people out there like me who like different types of reels and boxes of different sizes and i think there should be a new thread or website or something like a reference for people to contribute with their different jpegs . Once i wrote to BASF (some time ago) and asked if they had a website or something where one could visit and see online all their different spools and boxes since their existance. Of course there was no such thing.
Do you like the idea?? How would one start? I am happy to contribute with jpegs of all my different reels and boxes. Just a thought |

Re: How about a thread or a forum for reels?
From my site on service have a look at the pics
http://www.vintagerecorders.co.uk/Services.htm Some different formats and sizes, for the reels I did actually have all the different size BASF reels inc 10 and 10.5 but didn't have them for the photo. I have saved about 100 tapes all different styles, from the early scotch (Originally called Durex) to the brand new Quantagy (Ampex) who have announced they are stopping production of open reel tape BTW I have been after a reel or picture of a 8.1/4" scotch reel, I know the were made as I have the boxes, but no reels |

Re: How about a thread or a forum for reels?
Hello Jascha,You could try the reeltoreel group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/reeltoreel/ Members of the group discuss all sorts of things to do with reel to Reel including some like yourself who are interested in the tape reels and boxes themselves... Also putting pics up to show unusual or rare items. Good idea to ask for info on that site. Hope this helps. Just to correct a comment from reel-to-reel man, Quantegy tape is now back in production in the States and has been discussed faily recently on the reeltoreel site. Reelguy
