Ampex 400 power plug wanted
I dont know what type of plug this is, it would look like you insert a plug then twist to lock, anyone got one or know its name?

Re: Ampex 400 power plug wanted
Hello again reel-to-reel-man, I just left a note about this on your Ampex 602 post - I bet the guys at http://recordist.com/ampex/ would be able to help with this one too (apologies if you're already familiar with this list or have tried there already),
best wishes, Chas |

Re: Ampex 400 power plug wanted
If I'm not mistaken, that's a two-pin midget "twist lock" plug.
This guy sells the plug...but I don't know if he also has the corresponding trailing sockets. http://www.surplussales.com/Electrical/ElecAC-2.html If keeping the thing original is not important and providing the connector's housing diamter is the same, you could probably take measurements and replace that inlet with one of these: http://www.farm-home.com/images/jb08/10640308c.jpg With that, you can plug in the female end of a standard USA heavy-duty three-pin extension cord: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/items/217319.jpg |
