Cheap general purpose tool kit at Screwfix
Hi all,
Screwfix have reduced this toolkit to £29.99 over the Bank Holiday. http://www.screwfix.com/p/magnusson-...utm_term=47868 Decent enough quality especially at 30-odd pence per tool. Hope someone finds this useful. Kev |

Re: Cheap general purpose tool kit at Screwfix
It is a good deal, but I would check the availability before making a trip: my local store, and all the others in my area, are all showing "out of stock", and it is not available to order or click and collect.

Re: Cheap general purpose tool kit at Screwfix
Errm, a hammer and screwdrivers 'made from cast iron' - I hope not!
I wouldn't fancy using a cast iron claw hammer. Drop forged maybe? Gland nut pliers are normally chrome vanadium. Notwithstanding that, it looks an excellent kit at a keen price, as most Screwfix stuff is. (Especially since it's stated that it's original price was £79.99). The website reports 'not available to click and collect'. Also, though there are three Screwfix stores within five miles of me, and a further three within 15 miles, the website reports thus: "Sorry, none of these stores currently have this item in stock. Please search another location, or find an alternative product".

Well, a previous experience of general purpose "bargain basement" tools was when an old boss of mine supplied me with an impressive looking set. Turned out the screwdrivers were of a "one use" type quality as the tips appeared to be fashioned from mild steel Having said that, I recently purchased a security screwdriver set from a well known auction site. I only needed a specific tool, but the cost of this set was too tempting. As it turns out, it really is first rate quality and comes in a heavy gauge steel case - like something out of the 1930s - so you never know.
